Baby on the way! : Northern Virginia Maternity Photographer

The other day I was FINALLY able to get together and do some maternity photos before this baby gets here! She is due literally any minute now so we had to act fast! She looks A-mazing! Lucky girl! And, she already has an adorable 3 year old who is going to make a fantastic big sister. She's one of those patient people who waits to find out what they are having, so, you'll have to come back and see the newborn pictures to find out if it's a boy or a girl!

Kelley is already a little mama!

She is flawless!  She's one of those lucky girls whose face doesn't get round along with everything else.

Engagement Session: Mike & Lisa

This past weekend, amidst sporadic rain showers, I met Mike & Lisa at Great Falls National Park for their engagement session! They spend a lot of time outdoors hiking and kayaking so we decided to incorporate that into their engagement session! They even brought along their kayak! I actually have know Mike for about 5 years now because he was in the same training class as my husband back in the day when they worked for the U.S. Capitol Police! It was great to hear from him after he and Lisa got engaged and I'm so excited to be photographing their upcoming wedding!
Thanks guys for the fun morning! I definitely got a workout!

Event: Vicki's Graduation

A few months ago an old friend back from when I lived in Phoenix, AZ contacted me through facebook , which, by the way if we're not friends yet then click HERE and friend me!  She has been going to Gallaudet University, a school for the deaf here in Washington, D.C., where she obtained a masters degree in Interpretation and she wanted me to photograph the the graduation ceremony.  It was so fun because her entire family came and so I got to see her brother & sister who I was also friends with wayyyy by in Jr. high!  It's been nearly 15 years since I had seen them and it was all because of Facebook (which I have a love/hate relationship with).  They were all sooo proud of Vicki, the first member in their family to obtain a masters degree!  Congrats Vicki!  And if any of my blog readers ever need a sign language interpreter let me know and I'll put you in touch with Vicki!

The whole gang being silly!
The big moment!
My goal was to get a great shot of them "clapping".  I've always thought this was a beautiful sign and the silence of it make it so powerful.
The proud dad!

Everyone who was in her program...
The whole family!

Hooray!
I also got a few shots of her nephew who just turned 3.
I really LOVE this one!
Brotherly love!

Thanks Bond family!  It was so great to see you all again!

Maternity & 2 year old photo session: Northern Virginia Family Photographer

This is another family that I've gotten to photograph often over the past 2 years. Little Addison just turned two AND mom is pregnant with TWIN girls! So, we had lots of reasons to do another session while I was in Kansas (mom is also my husband's cousin). So, since 2 year olds typically don't really cooperate for photos I chased her around a bit to try to catch her in some cute moments and we tried to trick her into snuggling with mom. And, as I've mentioned before, I LOVE doing maternity photos! So, I had some fun alone with mom capturing that perfectly round belly! Enjoy!

How sweet is this?  She also is trying to one-up mom and says that SHE has 3 babies in HER belly!
The look of shock has just recently left dad's face since hearing he was, SURPRISE!, going to have 2 more girls!
Doesn't she look great!
I just love this one!
Check out that lip!

You seriously can't ask for a better setup than this!
